This is disappointing. But I fear you are taking liberties with my kindness. We always need more editors, but overall, you seem to want to treat the wiki like a toy, not actually help it.

You are officially doing more harm than good. I'm going to have to stop helping you, and ask you to limit your "contributions" to the wiki to requests, for various reasons:
 +
*1) you are a beggar. This likely means you are a new player, and therefore you don't have a lot of know-how about the game, and therefore are very unlikely to be able to healthy contribute to a growing wiki. I'm not saying it's impossible, but your constant edits on talk pages are a testament to this conclusion.

*2) this is direct etiquette breaking after being explicitly told not to.

*2) this is a waste of OOO employee time. I don't speak for them, but they do have to archive their talk pages, and look through every relevant post, I'm sure they don't appreciate this sort of thing, because I wouldn't.

In conclusion, take a break from editing the wiki anywhere but your sandbox, your talk page, your user page, and my talk page, and learn to use the preview button. Other editors and I have cleaned up after you, repeatedly. Up till today, I've been perfectly willing to help you, but this nonsense is just too much and is blatant disregard for editor time. -Novaster 05:40, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Revision as of 05:40, 31 May 2015

Greetings

Hello, it's good you are practicing in the sandbox, but please do not put inaccurate information onto the wiki. -Novaster 02:01, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

User Page

I'm also going to have to move your user page. User pages do not belong in the mainspace. -Novaster 02:02, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

Sorry didn't know that —Preceding unsigned comment added by 1462 (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~
And done! It is helpful to sign your posts with ~~~~. There's also a button for that in the edit window, second from the left. There's a lot to learn about wiki editing - as long as you have good intent, mistakes will be fixed and we will be happy to have you. Have fun! -Novaster 02:06, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for appreciating me to join, and I'm gonna make a few mistakes for awhile because I'm a new wiki editor (since I use mobile I can't post on the forums because mobile devices can't run spiral knights) -—Preceding unsigned comment added by 1462 (talkcontribs) . Apocrean Harvester Edit

I am curious about your edit here. Where do you get the idea/data of 1-2 minutes? If you could reply here that would be cool. -Novaster 02:21, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

Edits

Pay special attention to page format. Don't add so much space between sections - in fact, only one line is needed. You also should connect and provide proof of data whenever possible. For examples I have fixed your edits on the tinkinzar page. -Novaster 03:05, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

Good start today. -Novaster 04:28, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

I see you are trying to do redirects. That was a good one, but there's a better way to do these - a detailed list of what to redirect, and how to tag them, can be found here. You can redirect terms to specific sections in articles too, by using #REDIRECT Article#NAME OF SECTION OR ANCHOR. Here is an example in action. There are plenty of missing redirects, and we make them as we encounter the need for them, otherwise the chore would be a lot of work for something that might not be that useful.

You can also skim over the style guide, available under the search bar in the navigation panel, for more "how to do things". -Novaster 18:15, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

~~When my sandbox thing took me to an empty page, I made a link (or whatever it is) to the actual roarmulus twins~~

~~Oh and by the way I was being useful with the herex page by doing another line saying he is a boss fight in shadowplay~~

elite orbs need

Novaster, if you could help me with getting 5 elite orbs, that would be extremely helpful because I have a 4 star hall of heroes and I need 5 more elite orbs to get through it1462 02:16, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

Please keep this talk page about wiki matters, as it is on the wiki. You can mail me in-game about playing the game. Sign your posts with ~~~~ so you get a timestamp. -Novaster 14:25, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

Solnar

Please do not create wiki articles for ideas. This wiki is about giving players official information about the game. Conjecture, opinion, and nonexistent entities do not belong here. Feel free to suggest things on the suggestion forum. -Novaster 22:27, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

~~sorry didn't know I will get rid of it~~

I put the delete tag on it. Please sign your posts with ~~~~. Just put those four squiggles after your post. Only use that for talk pages, btw. Please practice now. -Novaster 22:36, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

Is there anyway to make a private page?1462 02:15, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

Please sign your posts with ~~~~. Then I will tell you how to do that. -Novaster 23:07, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
Edit User:1462, or make a page like User:1462/Sandbox -Novaster 02:22, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

This is confusing me, what should I put?1462 02:23, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

What should you put? Anything you'd want to put on a private page that isn't offensive, game-spoilery, or other ToS breaking stuff. That's what you asked for right? -Novaster 03:32, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

Redirects

You should only make redirects as needed, never when something exists already. "A New Threat" is a mission and should not be redirected to Herex. -Novaster 00:05, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Whoops, I didn't know where it should go because A new threat has no page -1462 00:43, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Again, don't make redirects like that. "Here" is not needed nor does it make consistent sense. -Novaster 01:43, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

Then how did you make here go to apocrean harvester history?

--1462 11:48, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

It's a neat trick that helps editors look cool. But it's really there to help navigate directly around disambiguation issues. A string such as this:

here will work like this: here.

The "|" is on the same key as the \ key on most keyboards. It's conveniently to the right of the other two brackets used for linking.

While learning editing, it helps to view the edit field of pages to see the code other editors might be using. -Novaster 12:34, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

That works for internal pages that exist. To link externally, like to the forums, use this instead:
Admin Post for Extraordinary Prize Box will produce Admin Post for Extraordinary Prize Box. It doesn't use "|", just a space, and a single bracket on either side, instead of two. Links with "=" symbols in the address can sometimes make things confusing for code so watch out for those. -Novaster 12:40, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

It would be a lot smarter and better to fix edit entries (spelling, capitals) instead of generating redirects. That helps you learn to wiki edit faster too. Try to remember to tag your redirects with a tag from the redirect list. Redirects are supposed to facilitate browsing navigation, not editor mistakes. -Novaster 13:03, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

The capital letter one you did for the katnip pouch was fine. Just food for thought. -Novaster 13:04, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

A New Threat

I was being as useful as I could by adding some info to the A New Threat page

-1462 00:57, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Except you didn't add info, you just redirected it. <<< old edit. Woops. Don't do that. We have a specific mission page format (old or new) but not one for dialogue yet - so just leave it alone for now. -Novaster 01:19, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
For clarity, I did see the new edits - hence mentioning page format. It's not time well spent. -Novaster 01:21, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
There are examples of this format in Shadowplay and March of the Tortodrones, and a few others. -Novaster 01:27, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

The reason I didn't do the format is because I didn't know how to to mission page format

-1462 01:31, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

okay, just leave the page alone then. -Novaster 01:40, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Wow I put a format but it was deleted

-1462 01:44, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Yes, I blanked it because it was too buggy and it's best to start from scratch. Please stick to practicing and/or doing what you know, otherwise you just do work that wastes your time, and that generates work for others. -Novaster 01:45, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

It was a bit of work for me alone so I was like hmm what to what to do, maybe I will just do as much of the format as I can

-1462 01:47, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Exactly. Don't do that. -Novaster 01:48, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

And like I said, I'm still a bit new, so just don't be to mad or depressed with my mistakes since I joined like 20 days ago I'm still a bit new

-1462 01:50, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

And from now on I'm testing with the sandbox before posting

-1462 01:52, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Not mad or depressed. Doing things in the sandbox is great. -Novaster 01:54, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
Whew. That was a lot of stuff. Mission pages are pretty advanced editor work, since they draw on a lot of different skills, including knowing the game, how templates work, how to crop images, and how to format pages/filenames consistently. Usually more than one editor helps work with a mission page because of all the different stuff it involves (like Onox likes to do monsters etc.) I'd give it a little while before tackling one. I hope to see you doing these like they're no problem eventually, so yeah, keep playing in the sandbox :). About minecraft, I'll play if I have time, it's been a while since I played with the intent to build/survive. -Novaster 16:47, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Tomorrow I will use spiral knights to mail you when I'm on minecraft and that mission page is great

--1462 00:32, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

how did you have rank 10-3 in the picture of the rainy garrison?

--1462 00:32, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

You can repeat missions. -Novaster 22:34, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

a little question

Novaster could you tell me how to make words colored?

--1462 14:13, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

I'm hesitant to do that. You really want to avoid doing that on a wiki. What are you going to use it for? -Novaster 20:27, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

Making rainbows in the sandbox

Ancient Edits

Please don't comment on the activities of others that are in the distant past - you've got to check the time stamp (partially why I harp on you so much to sign things. You can also check edit history and user contributions). Ninjadrill has not made an edit since 2013. What you're doing is called "necromancy" and is not okay on wikis or most forum threads around the world.
