This page is part of the Lancer Knightz data collection project. These particular data were collected by Bopp, Greenlocust, and Donkeyhaute, during 2012 and 2013. The data suggest that each level of damage bonus increases damage by about 5%. See also the depth-24 data.
Procedure
Only 5-star swords at heat level 10 are tested. The tester takes his (or her) sword to depth 19. For each kind of enemy and each kind of sword stroke, he records the amount of damage that the enemy incurs from the stroke, as well as the total damage bonus in effect for that enemy. He edits the table below, or sends data to Donkeyhaute for editing.
Data
The 5-star swords are grouped to avoid redundant text, and each group is recorded in a table below. The columns show every level of damage bonus from -2 (Medium penalty) to +6 (Maximum!). To clarify, family-specific bonuses are treated like any other kind of damage bonus. For example, consider a Cold Iron Vanquisher with no UVs and no bonuses from armor, shield, trinkets, or sprites. This sword has damage+3 against undead and damage+0 against fiends. So its undead data appear in the +3 column of the table, and its fiend data appear in the 0 column.

Analysis
This plot shows one way of thinking about damage bonuses. On the x-axis are damage numbers with damage bonus +0, +2, +4. On the y-axis are the corresponding damage numbers with damage bonus +2, +4, +6. For example, Leviathan Blade's four numbers 148, 167, 186, and 205 plot at the three points (148, 167), (167, 186), and (186, 205). The plot is nearly linear. The best-fit line of the form y = m x has slope m = 1.10198, suggesting that each two levels of damage bonus increase damage by 10.198%. The square root of 1.10198 is 1.04975, suggesting that each level of damage bonus increases damage by 4.975%.
