Battlepods are a type of monster found in the Clockworks.

Traits

Battlepods are large, stationary constructs protected by a shield. As long as their shield is active, they are immune to all damage. They sometimes come with orbiting, breakable blockades in addition to their shield. Unlike other constructs, they lack resistances and weaknesses and are completely immune to all status effects.

Battlepods are typically found in Missions near the end of depths. While Battlepods are capable of using a large number of abilities, each individual Battlepod will only have a few of them at its disposal, making each encounter slightly different from the last.

Battlepods can have status variants with separate appearances, but they are not classified differently from each-other. Some status-based abilities can only be used by status variants of battlepods.

Description

The mini boss of Ghosts in the machine. It is a very large Battlepod that blocks the path to an elevator that descends into a loot vault. It is unusual for a battlepod - beware its sharp tendrils and other unique abilities. Fighting lesser battlepods will not prepare you for this monster's tricks.

Minions:

2 monster spawners. Each can summon one Surgebot, Volt Knight, or Voltrode at a time.

Phases:

First phase only has 1 monster spawner. Up to 2 tentacle-wires break up out of the ground. Miniboss fires 2 laser beams in a random direction out of its mouth. After 4 laser bursts its shield will fail and its maw will split open. Attack now!
Second phase has 2 monster spawners and up to 4 wires and 4 lasers at once.
Third phase has up to 6 wires and fires 6-8 lasers at once. Its cyclopean eye has turned red and has a danger symbol on it.

Strategy:

This monster is only vulnerable when its mouth opens. This vulnerability is on a timer for only a few precious moments. Nothing the player does triggers its maw to open. It is a waiting game - though players can count laser bursts to prepare powerful charge attacks for when the time is right.
Avoid taking damage by hiding in the far left or far right South corners (its tendrils will not find you there) and watch out for laser beams.
Minions can be shield-bumped up into the wires around the miniboss to trap them.

Description

The miniboss of the Interface-icon-PvE.png Event Dangerous Mission: Grinchlin Assault! This large Battlepod blocks the path to the loot at the top of Mount Krampus.

Minions:

Various monster spawners. They can summon Slush Puppies, Rocket Puppies, Grinchlin Thwackers, Grinchlin Stalkers, Darkfang Menders and Humbugs during the entire battle.

Phases:

The entire battle consists of only one phase.

Strategy:

Like a normal Battlepod; wait until the mouth is open to strike it. Its mouth will open after it repels. Wait in this spot for the repel, head over to the pod, charge up, and take it down. The Deadly Shadow Cloak ability of the Maskeraith helps this strategy.

Strategy

Razwog's Battlepod before starting the battle.
  • The Big Iron works similar to Battlepods, as it has a timed shield that protects it from all damage. It has three stages that increase the number of beams and how often the wires pop up to hit you. It is good to always be ready to hit it, as its shield stays up for far longer than Battlepods' shields. It is also wise to bring weapons that are good on stationary targets, such as the Autogun family or a cheaper and weaker alternative, the Leviathan Blade. After its defeat you will win the mission and gain access to the prize room.
  • Battlepods are supported by Gremlins and Constructs in battles, the general idea is to defeat the minor enemies first.

Trivia

  • 2-2 Interface-icon-PvE.png Mission: A Revelation in Flames has a Battlepod with freeze status at the end of the second floor.
  • 6-2 Interface-icon-PvE.png Mission: Sewer Stash has two Battlepods with poison status at the end of the third floor.
  • 8-2 Interface-icon-PvE.png Mission: The Vile Engine has two Battlepods with shock status at the end of the third floor.
  • Interface-icon-PvE.png Prestige Mission: Assault on Machine Shop 13 always has a Battlepod battle at the end of the second floor.
  • Interface-icon-PvE.png Expansion Mission: Operation Crimson Hammer has various Battlepods with fire status.
  • Interface-icon-PvE.png Event Dangerous Mission: Grinchlin Assault! has a freeze Battlepod at the end of each depth, the Battlepod of the Summit level is bigger than the others, taking the role of Boss.
  • Razwog's Battlepod has the appearance of a poisonous Battlepod, but it doesn't use any poison attacks, its only ability is shooting status-less bullets. This Battlepod appears in the Rank Mission: The Ancient Generator.
  • It is possible that The Big Iron has been shut down for years. This theory is supported because the distress call was sent hundreds of years ago. It is unknown who sent the message.
