A Color Pattern is a set of three colors known as primary, secondary, and tertiary. This page is a list of patterns used in Spiral Knights to "style" or "theme" items and other entities.
Notes
The terms "color style," "color theme," and "color pattern," as well as many others can be confusing. To clarify:
- "Style": Seen in the official tooltip description of various prize boxes in-game. It is a good term, but is difficult to use uniformly for all items that use a named coloration because items are often "styled" with a color pattern, but also use other color codes, so style gets mixed up with "theme" quite frequently.
- "Theme": An item is themed with a color pattern if it uses one or more colors in a color pattern. It is possible for items to be themed with more than one color pattern.
- "Pattern": a set of three color codes that are easily distinguished by the naming convention and/or behavior of several items.
List
Below is an elaborate sortable list. This show/hide contains information about how to use the list efficiently. | |
About the List
Navigation Click on the pattern name to navigate to an individual category page containing items that are colored with that pattern in some way. Not all patterns have their own categories. Some items can "use" more than one pattern. Finding Things Double-click colored fields to highlight color code. Use the Control+F keyboard function to find certain terms that might not be prioritized in the sorting mechanism, such as "shed." The list will "remember" previous sorting commands. To reset table and clear this "memory," refresh the page. Sorting columns will generally sort the lowest value ("0", "a", etc.) to the top. This will group same-type colors together in the primary/secondary/tertiary columns. Sorting the "rainbow" column puts the table in "rainbow order." Organization "Rainbow" is roughly based on what the color pattern looks like on average in the game - not all items use each color pattern the same way, or with the same intensity. This allows users to know what to generally "expect" regarding a color pattern. In general, "rainbow" will usually be in sync with primary, less often secondary, and rarely tertiary. CTRL+F will find odd combinations that might not sort as desired, like "verdant" and its "pink." SFX = "special effects" DoR = "date of release." For most color patterns, this actually means when the color pattern was advocated or "advertised," not when it was first a color pattern in the game. Example - the Frosty Bombhead Mask was in the game long before the first "Frosty" recolors were. If the DoR column has a link, then the pattern was advocated in some way. Otherwise, it has either been in the game since release, or is a colloquial term used to describe a general group of colors, like "grey." |
