Talk:Spiral Warden
From SpiralKnights
Redundancies
I believe the article needs a complete overhaul, but I hope this tentative partial update can help as a stopgap sort of measure.
It seems like this article would be better titled "Tiers" or "Tier Clearance", as I'm not entirely sure there are any characters in-game actually named Spiral Wardens any more, or who are labelled in that role. Character-wise, Lieutenant Barrus has taken on the the role, which seems to be linked exclusively with HoH now.
As it is, I'll need to do a run or two to determine whether the "wardens" at Moorcroft and Emberlight can still grant a player permanent access to tier 2 and 3 respectively (if anyone has recent, conclusive experience with this, please speak up!). --Scribo
Spiral Wardens
As Barrus now fills the role of "Tier Clearance Warden", should the "Spiral Warden" role be:
- marked as obsolete;
- designated a character definition, covering the Trojan-like Spiral Knights/NPCs at the entrances to Moorcroft, Emberlight and Haven; or
- maintained as a legacy role definition?
--Scribo
- The spiral warden still exists so it's definitely not obsolete. His role is just marginalized.--Trying 21:18, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
- Tah, I did some proper poking around and am planning an approach with a focus on 2, covering the current role and probably including a bit of History or Trivia with 3. --Scribo 19:55, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
Page Format
According to Novaster(currently on vacation), this page should rather be in a list format.
Just like Lost soul of almire, I would change it myself but don't want to mess up your work ;)

- Oh i didnt knew that. Well i added in one of the resume that i wasnt sure hehe. If you want, you can make this page as list format :) couldnt ask Novaster all the things that covers NPCs D: (If you have another suggestion for NPCs pages let me know, i've working with them for a few days) --Hikaru 23:36, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
- I tried but lost my patience. I'll leave this task to more experienced editors and stick to image upload and APNG making^^ --Thepc 10:15, 27 September 2015 (UTC)
- Ok then haha, i will try it later :3! Btw, your work with the icons is awesome~ same with APNG :3 --Hikaru 00:22, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the kind words :) i'm just trying to help you real editors by providing images. I've seen Novaster is kind of back and writing to you, so that wraps this talk up for me. Good luck with the changes (i've read what Novaster wants and i didn't get it either xD) and keep up the good work :) --Thepc 22:54, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
- I find it problematic that people don't "get it." This means the format needs to be redesigned so people "get it." --Novaster 23:29, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
- Just think of NPCs as weapons. We have a list of each weapon type: bomb, handgun, sword. Each weapon has its own page. "leviathan blade" is a "sword," which is a "weapon." "Virgil" is a "spiral warden," which is a "type of NPC." Just a lot of npcs don't have their own names, and we don't have a lot of list pages for NPCs yet because this subject on our wiki is generally underdeveloped, (we have out-of-date stranger, lost soul of almire, and Lost Soul (Skull), and a few others so far), so I guess this is where the confusion is coming from? I'm thinking we link to "characters which are monsters" in the relevant monster page under the relevant section (such as Pembrooke under "notable kats"), since these npc lists would be, well, "race" or "species" lists and it wouldn't make sense to make redundant LIST pages for "characters that are monsters" - we'd end up with "Kat" and "Mewkat" and bleh. Of course we'd keep the individualized pages, not sticking Pembrooke into the kat page, just linking to Pembrooke from the kat page instead of from a new list page. But Spiral Wardens are not trojans, so they do need their own page. Lost Soul of Almire are not nasty Almirian Crusaders, either. So I can see where a lot of this gets confusing. --Novaster 00:09, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
- Yes this "monster type" is confusing... NPCs are indeed no monsters (at least some of them :D).
The page Lost soul of almire lists the NPC by their names, which is not really fitting for Spiral Warden, since most of them are nameless, but have different locations, dialogues, etc.
So yeah i also think the list format needs some overhaul to fit all NPCs. --Thepc 08:36, 29 September 2015 (UTC)

Current Discussion
Page Revamp
As discussed previously, the page has been updated to list format (instead of individual NPC page format). This article is now pretty much entirely about the named entity, as it should be, with minor mention of associated mechanics to reduce confusion. Please check for accuracy. --Novaster 01:18, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
