:Because when I made the format I was working from the beginning forward and the template I used changed. [http://wiki.spiralknights.com/index.php?title=Template:NewsTable/row&oldid=170859 The first version] had almost exactly the same inputs so I just used a text replace to fix the template usage for the current template in use while leaving the remains of the original entry format on the published page. The staff has done fewer and fewer patch note releases as the years have gone by. A lot of changes have been made "quietly" (such as the brigandine butt and tooltip preview and many, many other "small" things) which makes things very difficult for editors to source. I will look at compressing this information later, either moving it into notes or simply removing it, as "patch notes" seem to no longer be a consistent source of information (as of for quite some time now), at least compared to admin posts in the forums and promotion details on the wiki. --[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 14:39, 22 October 2015 (UTC)

I am not an employee, just a very overly enthusiastic gamer and wiki editor. Keep edits here limited to things about the wiki that I've done, or that you are very sure I can help with. All my work is volunteer - and I value every moment :). That being said, I'll be happy to help if I can. My IGN is Novaster, same as my wiki account, so pop me a pm or mail in-game if you want to casually discuss things.

NPC pages

Notes now that we've run into a few obstacles:

  • Noticed that appearances are lengthy and complex. They really shouldn't go in the infobox. Moving them to the main article in their own section is better. Besides, the picture in the infobox is worth 1000 words. Most other wiki's I've seen do things this way. Of course, for certain NPCs, we will use a template to make listing equipment easier.
  • The infobox entry needs to be simplified so monster species can be specified, for example, "spookat" instead of "monster."
  • List vs. Individual: somehow clarify... just think of NPCs as weapons. We have a list of each weapon type: bomb, handgun, sword. Each weapon has its own page. "leviathan blade" is a "sword," which is a "weapon." "Virgil" is a "spiral warden," which is a "type of NPC." --Novaster 23:54, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
Apparence: Knights are the one who should have them in the infobox, for Gremlins need only the items extra (Nonna, has a Flower an a Mask for example), for Strangers it is not that necessary i guess just add the mask "symbol" and the "main color" and in case other thing (like Bootshuze how kinda looks like a gremlin) add it but only in general, for monsters, just add which family it is because in appearance, almost all monster are the same.
Infobox: Agreed.
List vs individual: A main list of NPCs could be fine and can be sorted like missions which have Rank mission, Prestige mission, Expansion Missions and arcade mission, in a NPC list would be Knight, Strangers, Monsters, and Bosses.
For an extra thing, i would like a "title" parameter. The Role parameter would not be shown in the page but help to add the category but the Title would show. Like Archilus, he would be Knight: Elemental Defender but his role parameter would have vendor and the category would be added. For those without tittle a switch can be added to show the role then. --Hikaru 00:17, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
PD: the px in the mugshot should be fixed, i tried but faild EDIT: Cool! thx~ but isnt a tiny? though it would have the width of the info box. Anyways when you come back we can talk it better ~ --Hikaru 00:17, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
It currently matches the basic infobox dimensions (such as Bolted Vee default, which is 201x222px), but for some reason the template doesn't like #x#px restriction. IMO the Basil pic is now the perfect size, but for pics that are erm...out of date, regarding your great transparency and isolation work, will not look so hot. Bulky isn't looking happy, for example, but when he's isolated like Basil is, I think it will be a good size. This works pretty well for overworld shots such as Edger too, but I think I/we should try harder to make sure the overworld pic dimensions are a square instead of a rectangle (which I didn't because Edger was larger than my standard capture), for various reasons. I suppose the left/right padding is a bit much and could be looked into (all that empty blue space to the left/right of the pictures in the infobox is what I'm referring to, a separate issue from image size, though they are related yes). EDIT: actually bleh they really should stay as they are, they reflect in-game size and the infobox can't be any skinnier for various text squishing reasons. And it didn't bother me until I thought maybe it was a problem, but then I remembered that some NPC portraits are really just cut off like that (especially Vanabutt). And yeah I really should sleep...had a lot of downtime today because of the thing that cut the vacation short, which is a family medical emergency. --Novaster 02:19, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
Bulky indeed, looks pretty sad lol, but there will be the event sooner so i can take screen yay~ Im going to sleep. Hope it wasnt that bad! (your medical emergency) take care~ --Hikaru 02:39, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
Yes and the px. EDIT: fixed the px issue...but not in the way I really wanted to, oh well. Regarding the infobox, it really has to be consistent. We can't have appearance in the infobox just for knights, when every NPC has an appearance that can be described (which is different than other topics which not every entity has, such as "depth range" not being a thing for dialogue missions). It makes finding the same type of information a real hassle, and is the reason people are so unhappy with many equipment pages, which were slapped together in the past with inconsistent ToC sections as well as inconsistent ToC order. Here are some examples from other wikis, regarding appearances (I don't necessarily agree with the format of these wikis, just showing the description of how they look in paragraph/partial list form is the point here):

I regret not using this format with the page format I set up from the start, as it seems to be the proper thing to do. --Novaster 00:50, 29 September 2015 (UTC)

Battle Sprite Skills

First of all, that header scared me, it sure do its mission to being notice xD
About the Skills. Why dont we move the ultimate upgrades to the main page? Example: Ray of Light have two ultimates, but in individual pages. It doesnt seem useful because the Ray of Light's page doesnt have THAT much info, why dont merged them together and just add redirects to the individuals pages? --Hikaru 01:03, 11 October 2015 (UTC)

I would support this change. I think I have "improve BS skill pages" somewhere on my to do list. It would show animations too, a lot of people never see the Haunted Haze death effects. --Novaster 01:04, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
But let's stay focused on current projects. Don't bite off more than you can chew! --Novaster 01:09, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
Yay :D! the BS pages looks awesome, so the skills need some love too :3. Haha yeah, NPC and Missions are still WIP --Hikaru 01:33, 11 October 2015 (UTC)

Icons Tags

I am pretty sure you notice i been playing with icons lately. Thats for three reasons:

1. I am fixing the horrible amount of lost-icons in the spanish wiki so i wanted to check the icons here just in case.
2. There was an error in the tags you proposed (it took me a time to understand the "error"). Everything was fine till costume icons appear, the amount of icons is moren than 200, so the page, when show 200 icons costume and you want to "200 next" it show the same list again. The only solution was adding the costume word but with anything else, so i (kind of) sorted the costume and add the tags to it:
So now the error is gone yay~ even if editos dont tag the new uploads, the disorder wouldnt be that bad which is what i like xD. I didnt add "costume-event" in case the numer increase and the problem will appear again. I will tag the rest tomorrow, there is a few things i would like to know:

What do you think? I still need to "tag" icons from acc and recolors from costumes. I was thinking for recolor this way:

So all "types" would show together, but then i think that maybe per color is better, like: costume-rc hallow, so all items with hallow recolor would show togehter. What do you think is better?. btw, i though it tag them together (just costume-recolor) but would create the same problem of getting "stuck" in "costume-recolor" after pressing 200 next, because there are almost 300s icons (just for recolors) and the amount of prize box thats being release is too ... high so the number will probably increase so. That xD

And the other thing, about acc icons, the acc tag would create the same problem (once all tag are added) so, for me, those icons are like... w/e xD at least in the category, so i was thinking in adding "z-acc hunter"/"z-acc lovely" with z the icons will be at the end of the list so they dont bother that much, if i just add the "acc hunter" the A would be first and noooooo. So let me know what you think. Nite~ (wow i write really funny in english when "thinking faster" haha sorry for all the typos and etc, too sleepy to fix those, i think they are understandable haha) --Hikaru 06:10, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
P.D: I forgot to tell you about this --Hikaru 06:11, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
Forgot reason 3: Its because i can :V --Hikaru 06:11, 13 October 2015 (UTC)

Whatever works! I've been aware of the "next 200" error for quite some time, which is why I halted the project - it annoyed me. I've been getting around it by changing the letter in the URL to = whatever was needed, and people really seem to like doing that anyway cause it lets them jump to gates etc. I do not know what causes the error, or if it's only for a few browsers, or what, but I'm guessing it has something to do with how old our mediawiki version is. I am glad you seem to be having fun with the project though, and your reasons and organization seem fine to me. The reason I started this project in the first place was because we had many duplicate uploads, and those are bad for any wiki. So I wanted editors to find what they were looking for quickly, after several searches I did for myself yielded sub-par results. --Novaster 14:00, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
The project was cool, i mean, its way easier to find icons that way, but at first i was just seeing what kind of icons the category had and encounter with the costume problem. I guess it because... the list, after every next, the url (without tags) changed to the first icon name (like, &from=Equipment-Armor icon.png) and with tags, if i click next and the last one of the list was a bomb-5, the list start with bomb-5 but from the first bom-5 icon, not from the one i left in the previous page, so with costume, more than 200 had the same tag "costume" so when you lick next 200 and the next icon would have "costume" the list show the first costume (again) not allowing to move foward. Or thats what id get playing around with the cat xD. After i got all tags i will add those in the list,(for gates or prestigue or mats(crafing) i didnt add a tag because the "gate-" or "furniture-" in front already sorted them in the list) after that dunno whats next. Thx x3! --Hikaru 18:15, 13 October 2015 (UTC)

Oh and, btw what its this because i dunno if it would be used in a future, same as the template --Hikaru 23:49, 13 October 2015 (UTC)

That's the little heart all the shields have in their stats interface. Feel free to upload a better version, it looks pretty sad doesn't it? :P. That template was part of the "alpha" phase of the giant sortable gearlist project. --Novaster 01:06, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
Its not xD and i didnt even notice the stats interface heart haha xD --Hikaru 01:28, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
What's not what now? --Novaster 01:35, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
Lulz didnt saw ur msg sorry. Its not "pretty sad" as you said. Aaaaaand that reminds me, what its this? --Hikaru 02:39, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

New Prize Box would be release tomorrow! Oh my, save the humanity --Hikaru 05:11, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
