Gremlin menders are a type of monster found in the Clockworks.

Traits

Menders are the most widespread Gremlins found in the Clockworks. Wielding Wrench Wands and barking their trademarked, "Mending!" battle cry, they will stop at nothing to heal their companions. Menders are an agile breed, dodging and keeping clear of knights' swings, bombs, and bullets. Menders are also known to expand their clientele to outside their own race; a knight should never be surprised to find these Gremlins aiding other monster families. In deeper tiers, Menders become more aware of a knight's presence and will flee accordingly. They will also gain the ability to heal surrounding monsters in a single burst that knocks knights away, create runes to heal all monsters who step onto it, generate a healing shield for themselves if they are nearing their own demise, and even revive their fallen Gremlin comrades - including fellow Menders!

Gremlin Menders cannot directly inflict damage, but can keep healthy monsters who can.

Location Drops
Description

An elite Mender of the Darkfang clan.

  • Can place a mending rune on the floor that heals any enemies upon it. Automatically encases itself in a healing bubble that protects it from attacks, eventually diminishing over time or when Knights break their bubble. When in the bubble, the Mender is immobile but can still cast spells. Able to revive fallen Gremlins.

Strategy

  • Menders are exceptionally powerful, with the ability to heal hundreds of hit points worth of damage in quick succession. If you are adventuring alone, it is strongly advised that you kill the Menders before turning to other units, as it may not be possible to deal damage fast enough to counter the healing spells otherwise.
  • When in a party and fighting a group of enemies accompanied by a Mender, have someone deal damage to the other monsters. The Mender will stay put casting his healing spells instead of moving or dodging and will become an easy target.
  • In Tier 3, Thwackers, Scorchers and other Menders will all leave corpses on defeat in the presence of any living Menders, and will hold the weapon they were using when they were defeated. These corpses can be revived by said Menders, and all unrevived Gremlins will disappear once all Menders in the area have been dispatched, which makes dispatching Darkfang Menders a top priority, especially in Gremlin themed levels.
