::We have seen so many worlds on this mission, but none such as this. This burning citadel is not some construction of gremlin design. This is a real place, some kind of shell of a former empire. There is great sorrow here, something unlike anything I have felt before.

::Legions of shambling dead have attacked us here, relentless in their defense of this place. Their broken, burnt frames crumbling and rising once more, ready for another battle. An Echo Stone is an artifact found in The Sanctuary. It is a remnant of a message, left by an unknown entity, for any Knight who would brave the Unknown Passage.

There are four Echo Stones, one for each Shadow Lair. The echoes they contain can be listened to at any time after obtaining them.

Arsenal icon for artifacts.
This article is about the arsenal item. For other uses, see The Artifact.

An Artifact is an item indicating participation in an activity. Many are found on the ground in the Clockworks.

Notes

Artifacts typically contain important information about the story of Spiral Knights.

They cannot be equipped, nor do they show up on the player for public view. They cannot be traded to other players or sold to vendors.

There are many informative modules found throughout the clockworks. Only certain Recon Modules and all Echo Stones are acquired and stored in the player's arsenal. Modules have a distinct disc shape in both the overworld as well as their icons, though the coloration seems to be swapped. Echo stones have a unique overworld appearance and interface.
