Description
Biotech Morlin works in the Laboratory, informing knights about battle sprites and their usefulness.
Appearance
This character has items most similar to:
Dot eyes, Lime personal color
Resembles the head of an E-class battle sprite.
A unique combination of the Heavenly Iron Armor neckline, Spiral Cuirass chest, Spiral Flak Jacket body, and Spiral Plate Mail sleeves.

This character was introduced with release 2013-07-30.
He is first encountered during the 2-1 
Mission: A Visit to the Lab, where he asks the player to secure a cache of battle sprites lost during the crash of the Skylark. Later on, he helps the player choose a battle sprite.

If the player chooses How do sprites level up and evolve?:

| Battle sprites level up by acquiring heat, just like your weapons and gear. They can acquire heat in two ways: absorbing it as you battle in the Clockworks and by consuming materials and synthesizing them into heat.
|
|
|
|
| Feeding your sprite materials is the fastest way to level it up. Talk to Biscotti here in the Lab for more information on sprite feeding.
|
|
- And how does my sprite evolve?
|
|
Your sprite will evolve as you level it up. At certain key levels your sprite will require an Evo Catalyst be fed to it in order to level up further. Once fed, your sprite will physically change its appearance!
It will be interesting to see how these strange, new forms of battle sprites evolve in time.

If the player chooses Tell me about sprite skills.:

| As a sprite levels up, they will learn new combat skills as well as gain skill points.
|
|
|
|
Each battle sprite will learn three skills that you can use in combat. Skills are learned automatically at certain levels as the sprite levels up.
Combat skills become stronger with skill points.
|
|
|
|
Skill points are gained regularly as a sprite levels up. They can be applied to skills within the battle sprite interface.
When applying a skill point, you must choose an augment to increase, such as the cooldown rate or overall damage.
|
|
|
|
| And don't worry about applying skill points the 'wrong way,' since you will eventually gain enough skill points to max out all your skills!
|
|
|
|
| Once you've applied all your skill points and achieved a very high level with your sprite, you will being to select your 'ultimate skills.' Ultimate skills are improved versions of your sprite skills .Each sprite skill has two options for an ultimate skill.
|
|
|
|
You may only select one ultimate skill per sprite skill so choose wisely! Also note that selecting ultimate skills will further change the appearance of your sprite.
With all these options, your max level sprite is sure to look and behave differently from the rest!

If the player chooses What are sprite harnesses?:

All battle sprites wear a mechanical harness that aligns their skills to a damage type. Not all sprites can wear all harnesses though. For example, a drakon cannot output piercing damage.
By default, you have an iron harness that any sprite can equip. If you want to branch out as you likely do with your weapons and gear, you need to purchase new harnesses.
|

- Where can I purchase more harnesses?

See Riley here in the Lab to purchase new harnesses. Once purchased, a harness is automatically added to your harness list in the battle sprite interface.
Additionally, any time you purchase a diret upgrade to a harness you own, it will be replaced by the superior harness.

| Harness upgrades are definitely worth the crowns. Superior versions of each harness reduce combat skill cooldowns!

If the player chooses What are sprite perks?:

| Battle sprites gain perks at certain levels that you can equip within the battle sprite interface. Perks provide bonuses to your stats.
|
|
|
|
Perks are unlocked at random. Some perks are much rarer than others and will require a sprite to level up very high to unlock them all.
You can even gain perks after reaching level 100!
|
|

| Greetings, PLAYERNAME! I hear you've recently arrived in Haven from across the great chasm. While you were out there, did you encounter any of our battle sprites?

- What's a 'battle sprite'?
|
|
Ah, that's right, you're a new recruit. Most knights encounter their first sprite on the battlefield. Chances are you've not had the opportunity to see one yet.
Allow me to explain...
|
|
After the intro, Morlin will repeat this part of the dialogue if spoken to again, either via repetition of the mission or if The Lab is entered from the Haven Garrison and the next rank missions are incomplete:

| A battle sprite is an AI-driven construct capable of reconnaissance and light combat support. Battle sprites are highly adaptable. Their AI allows them to acutely observe their surroundings and aid their knight in the most optimal way.
|
|
- Sounds very useful. How do I get one?
|
|
When a battle sprite is issued to a knight, a 'bond' is written into the sprite's code to support the knight no matter the circumstances. They will near leave your side!
Unfortunately, the cargo crates holding the Skylark's cache of battle sprites fell deep into the Clockworks after the crash.
|
|
|
|
A recon squad has managed to track down where many of these battle sprites have landed. Rhendon has been sent ahead to scout out three of these sites and will meet up with you in the Clockworks.
You must secure our battle sprites before they fall into enemy hands!

Despite their well, strange appearance, we have concluded that these 'new' battle sprites are not only suitable for combat but may have even further enhanced capabilities as a result of their transformation.

I will provide you with a summary of each battle sprite. In recognition of your valor in rescuing these sprites, Spiral HQ has authorized you to bond with one. This bond will last forever and is a significant responsibility.

There are three distinct battle sprites available. Each has responded to the power emanating from this world differently and each offers a unique combat experience.
These sprites include the fiery drakon, the radiant seraphynx, and the shadowy maskeraith.

The drakon is a battle sprite that embodies fiery destruction. Its skills focus on direct assault: firebolt creates an explosive projectile, flame barrier surrounds its knight with protective fireballs, and firestorm creates a massive wave of flames.
The drakon is best suited for fearless knights who prefer frontline, destructive combat.

|

Its skills focus on supporting knights in combat: ray of light creates a steady beam of holy light, heart attack increases the chance of hearts dropping from monsters, and angelic aura creates a light shield that protects its knight and party members within.
The seraphynx is best suited for knights who wish to protect their party and provide them aid.

The maskeraith is a battle sprite that embodies deception and debilitation. Its skills focus on subterfuge: caustic quills fire poisonous quills that explode when followed with an attack, shadow cloak allows a knight to become invisible to monsters, and hexinig haze allows the knight to inflict monsters with a timed damage blast.
The maskeraith is best suited for knights who wish to lurk in the shadows and strike the enemy with sneak attacks.
