The Rancorous Reserve is an area of the Clockworks populated by the Greavers and Reaping Willows. As such, while its status theme can change, its main theme is always Fiend monsters.

Description
|description = Warning: This is a Dangerous Mission!

Desna and her Recon Rangers are an elite team tasked with recovering intel from some of the most dangerous levels of the Clockworks. Joining them could lead to great rewards, but it is guaranteed to be a perilous journey!

Spiral HQ has detected high energy spikes from what should be an average Wolver Den. Thunderous marching can be heard throughout the Clockwork and has become a cause for the Recon Rangers to be deployed to investigate.

While the first level is shown as a Wolver's Den on the Gate Map, it is actually a version of the Aurora Isles set at night. It features several forced fights showcasing the new stun-themed enemies. Many of the fights have respawning turrets outside the arena and stun plates to increase the challenge.
+
|objective = Investigate the source of the strange happenings

+
}}
The second depth is laid out like a Clockwork Tunnels, in that you have thin corridors to traverse with larger rooms to battle. It could also be said that it is like a Deconstruction Zone with movement restricted. Players are tasked with defeating three forced fights to claim 3 keys to unlock the boss room. This floor also houses more traps that the above like shock and stun plates and timed exploding boxes that can prevent players from accessing treasure boxes.
+
Monsters
The boss for the mission is in fact a 3 on 1. The main boss, the Electnedi, attacks similar to the Snarbolax, but is able to harmed without stunning, can summon shock and stun-wolvers along with bolstering their attack, and finally has a shock-cloud near it. Supporting the Electnedi are two dullard Tortodrones. With less aggressiveness, more limited moveset, and less health, these tortodrones are a significantly less threatening foe.

+
Characteristics
+
Each level map is fixed.

Levels
+
When accessible via the arcade, they are found in a rotation of 1-2 levels in the depth they occupy depending on the level. Rotation time seems to always be 3 minutes or less:
+
*Concrete Jungle levels are always found in a rotation of 2 with each other.
+
*Concrete Jungle levels are always found in a rotation of 2 with each other.
+
*Concrete Jungle is exclusive to Tier 3 and is always the only level in the depth it occupies.

Labored Labor
+
Compared to other regions, Concrete Jungle levels are a rare sight in arcade gates, with Briar Bone Barrage possibly being the rarest level in the arcade because the stratum combinations necessary for these levels do not often occur with enough room for the levels to generate in a cluster down through Tier 3 depths, which seems necessary for Concrete Jungle to appear.

Description

Home to the most dangerous of Gremlin convicts and the most questionable meals, those sent to the Darkfang Penitentiary are rarely heard from again outside of obituaries. — Gate Icons

Characteristics

Each level map is fixed.

When accessible via the arcade, they are found in a rotation of 1-2 levels in the depth they occupy depending on the level. Rotation time seems to always be 3 minutes or less:

 • Blight Boulevard levels are always found in a rotation of 2 with each other.
 • Totem Trouble levels are always found in a rotation of 2 with each other.
 • Briar Bone Barrage is exclusive to Tier 3 and is always the only level in the depth it occupies.

Compared to other regions, Concrete Jungle levels are a rare sight in arcade gates, with Briar Bone Barrage possibly being the rarest level in the arcade because the stratum combinations necessary for these levels do not often occur with enough room for the levels to generate in a cluster down through Tier 3 depths, which seems necessary for Briar Bone Barrage to appear.
